SECTION 06

Built without a camera

The existing TETHER trailer was made with no live-action photography.

Drawing on our professional film and television set-design background, we designed Eldridge’s geography, locations, characters and technology, then built the trailer through 3D modelling, Unreal Engine, generative AI tools and conventional post-production.

For the feature we would build the film virtually first — performances blocked, environments designed, lenses tested, potentially a provisional edit before principal photography. Decisions made at that stage cost a fraction of the same decisions made on the day.

The production method is itself a proof of concept.

Design to Delivery

  1. 01

    Design

Eldridge’s geography, locations, characters and technology designed from the ground up — the same set-design process as a physical production, done digitally.

  2. 02

    Model & Block

3D modelling and Unreal Engine. Environments built, cameras placed, performances blocked. Lenses tested before anyone commits to them.

  3. 03

    Generate

Generative tools take blocked frames to finished imagery. Characters, props and environments developed from a single asset into stills, boards and motion.

  4. 04

    Post

Conventional edit, grade and sound. A reworked gospel hymn for score. The finishing craft is unchanged — only the acquisition is different.

Why this de-risks the feature

Building the film virtually first means the expensive decisions get made when they are cheap. Environments, blocking, lens choices and a provisional edit all exist before a crew is on the clock.

The feature itself would centre on live-action photography, real actors in real environments for the emotional core, integrated into the digitally developed world. We would return to British Columbia, where we have an established professional network across productions large and small. Hope, BC is a strong physical foundation for Eldridge, and a qualifying Canadian production could access federal and provincial incentives, putting financing on screen rather than into infrastructure.

Decisions made at that stage cost a fraction of the same decisions made on the day.
